Today is another first for Beer Hound Brewery, we are brewing a lager. Lagers take longer to brew than ales do, and require lower fermentation temperatures to maintain their clean crisp taste. As such, we want to get in the habit of brewing lagers every few weeks, so we keep a pipeline of lagers available to you, our consumers. The lagers are kept within a special fermentation vessel in our fermentation room, one that get maintain the colder temperatures without impacting our other beers. Once finished, the lagers will move to the conditioning room, just like our other beers.
Beer Hound's first lager is a Bohemian pilsner named Zeus. The beer's name, like our other beers, comes from a famous dog. In this case, Zeus is German-bred doberman pincer from Magnum PI. Zeus should be ready for tasting in about a month. Make sure to check back so you can get a taste of this new beer.
A nanobrewery located in Central Virginia, Beer Hound Brewery strives to keep beer local by brewing and serving our beer direct to customers at the brewery. Our beers are named after famous hounds in movies and history, with an attempt to link the beer style to the hound. We serve fresh beer daily, so stop by and enjoy a pint. Beer Hound is also associated with The Fermentation Trap, a full-service homebrewing store.
